Lifestyle changes

Behavioural therapy or Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) are "whole person"-focused interventions which aim to help you modify your insight, understanding your thoughts and beliefs concerning weight regulation as well as addressing behaviours that require change for successful weight loss and maintenance of weight loss. In other words it tries to change positively your eating and living behaviours that have led to you to become overweight. CBT is a technique that can be used alone but more often it is used in conjunction with other weight loss methods (eg dieting) and is a part of many commercial and medical weight loss programmes (eg weight watchers).

CBT includes self-monitoring (e.g. dietary & exercise record), techniques to control eating as well as trigger situations for eating and relaxation techniques (eg. meditation).

Results
People who have undergone CBT have been shown to lose between 10 to 15lbs (4 to 7kg) of weight. However, CBT is most effective when used with other treatment methods (eg. Dieting, drug, surgery) as it often enhance the results but more importantly it is probably the most powerful treatment that maintain the weight loss.
